Best wok shape induction pan for deep frying

The Wacetog carbon steel 10-inch wok is the best choice if you need plenty of extra deep frying space while cooking.

This pan is huge! You’ve probably heard that woks aren’t a great choice for induction cooktops, and that’s usually true. However, this wok was especially designed to work on induction cooktops. It has a larger and flatter base which means it will be able to connect with your induction cooktop in ways that other woks just can’t.

The removable handle is a great addition to see in this pan. This gives you more storage options rather than having a large wok hanging around your kitchen all the time. The added depth and size of this pan is great. A wok just cooks food in ways that other pans can’t.

You just want to make sure that you look out for the non-stick coating that can be easily scratched when using metal utensils. This walk is also a little thin, so you might have to watch the Heat closer than you would with a cast iron pan.

Alternative wok induction pan for deep frying

Flat bottom carbon steel induction wok for deep frying

You could also use your 11-16 inch carbon steel wok. Make sure that it is a flat bottom wok. Sometimes the flat bottom of the wok curves slightly because of the high heat of the wok burner. But if you regularly use your flat bottom carbon steel wok on an induction cooktop the bottom won’t curve. Make sure the bottom sits tightly and fully on the induction surface.

Frying in flat bottom carbon steel wok is very easy because of the height of the wok and even heat distribution through carbon steel.

Best induction frying pans compared, which one is best for you

While product the Amazon Basics dutch oven is great, the Lodge cast iron skillet would be a better alternative for long-term cooking.

The Amazon Basics dutch oven provides a lot of cooking utility when it comes to deep frying on an induction cooktop, but Lodge just makes better products.

The Lodge cast iron skillet is going to last you a lot longer and stand up to more wear and tear along the way. The lodge brand also makes a range of cast iron skillets that outclass the Amazon Basics pan. The Lodge brand is more expensive, but you really feel the value of that extra cost when it comes to the higher build quality of their pans.

How we did the test

Testing on large induction cooktop surface and portable induction cooktop

1. The size of the frying pan

Since the size of the frying pan doesn’t play a big role when it comes to frying for one or two people, the size was very important when we were frying for a family of 5. Obviously larger induction frying pans performed better since we were able to fry foods in fewer batches.

The downside of large induction frying pans was the amount of oil we had to use in order to fry for only one or two people. The amount was significantly larger than the amount used in smaller induction frying pans.

2. The shape of the frying pan

The shape of the induction frying pan played a huge role once the food was placed in the pan. Some of the pans which are not on the list had lower walls. Oil splattered on the induction cooktop and we soon excluded all lower wall induction pans.

Larger pans were also a problem when deep frying on a portable induction cooktop. We have two portable induction cooktops and both have touch screen temperature controls placed on the top of the cooktop. All larger pans covered the touch panel and it was impossible to deep fry on the portable induction cooktop. Therefor it’s best to use smaller induction pans that fit your portable induction cooktop.

Best induction pan for deep frying for portable induction cooktop

When it comes to deep-frying on a regular kitchen induction cooktop, larger pans worked better because we were able to deep fry larger batches.

3. The material of the frying pan

All materials had to be suitable for induction cooking.

We also found that lighter pans work better with deep frying.

What type of pan is best for deep frying on an induction cooktop

There are a few specific things you should look for in a deep frying pan for an induction cooktop.

You want to make sure that the pan works on induction surfaces but also won’t damage them or scratch them. The pan should also be sturdy and able to hold enough heat in order to get your oil up to frying temperature. You also want to find a pan that can stand up to a little use as deep frying is more demanding than other types of cooking.

What to look for before you get one

There are generally two things that you need to look for when you’re shopping for a deep frying pan. The pan should be made of a sturdy metal that can retain enough heat for deep frying, and it should be deep enough to safely hold all that oil without the risk of it boiling over.

A sturdy metal pan, such as cast iron, is the best material to shop for in your deep frying pan. This is because sturdy metal will retain the heat longer than thin aluminum pans. The better your pan is at holding in heat, the easier it’s going to be to retain deep frying temperatures on your induction cooktop.

You want to make sure that the pan is deep enough to hold enough oil in order to fully submerge your food in the frying oil. Higher walls on your pan also make for a safer deep frying experience.

How to deep fry on an induction cooktop

Deep frying on an induction cooktop has some challenges as well as some advantages over deep frying on traditional ranges. You’re going to have to work a little harder to make sure that your induction cooktop stays safe when deep frying. The key is to make sure you find a pan that won’t damage your induction cooktop but will also be able to hold enough oil to successfully deep fry.

Here’s your crash course in deep frying on an induction cooktop but if you want to get more details on how to deep fry on induction cooktop check my post here. You first want to make sure that your oil is heated between 350 and 370 degrees Fahrenheit. You also want to make sure that you have at least 3 to 4 inches of oil in order to deep fry. The last thing you want to do is deep fry in small batches to ensure that all of your food cooks quickly without getting soggy.

Conclusion

The DRICKATE Stainless Steel Deep Frying Pan is the best choice for deep frying on an induction cooktop, but don’t overlook the extra portability and value of the Lodge skillet. No matter which pan you go with, make sure it is deep enough to hold frying oil, has a sturdy build, and can stand up to the heat!
