Canned tuna is an excellent alternative to traditional beef patties, offering a healthy, lean protein option packed with omega-3 fatty acids and essential vitamins and minerals.

Why Choose Canned Tuna Burgers?

Tuna burgers are not only a healthier option, but they also provide a unique and refreshing flavor profile. Moreover, canned tuna allows for quick and easy preparation, perfect for busy weeknights or last-minute meals.

How to Make Tuna Burgers from Canned Tuna

To make a basic tuna burger, you will need:

  • Canned tuna, drained
  • Breadcrumbs or crushed crackers
  • Egg
  • Seasonings of choice

Simply mix these ingredients, form them into patties, and cook them on a grill or stovetop.

How to Keep Tuna Patties from Falling Apart

One common concern when making tuna burgers is keeping the patties intact. To prevent them from falling apart:

  1. Use an egg as a binder. The egg will help hold the patty together while cooking.
  2. Add breadcrumbs or crushed crackers. These absorb excess moisture, preventing the patties from becoming too wet and crumbly.
  3. Chill the patties before cooking. This will help them firm up and retain their shape during cooking.

Why Use Egg in Tuna Patties?

Eggs serve as a binder in tuna patties, helping the mixture hold together during cooking. They also add moisture and richness to the burger, ensuring a tender and flavorful end result.

Enhancing the Flavor of Canned Tuna

To make your tuna burgers even more delicious, consider adding some of the following ingredients:

  • Finely chopped onion, garlic, or scallions
  • Fresh herbs, such as parsley, cilantro, or dill
  • Spices, like cumin, paprika, or chili powder
  • Grated cheese, such as cheddar, feta, or mozzarella
  • Sauces or condiments, like soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, or mustard
